Invisalign results – Top 6 Tips and Tricks

If you have crooked teeth that have been bothering you for a while, Invisalign is one of the best ways to align them. The technique and Invisalign results are the same as with traditional braces. The main difference is the aesthetic component.

Learn more about Invisalign clear aligners in Gilbert at Premier Family Dental Care.

As the name Invisalign suggests, these braces are clear, virtually invisible unless you have a trained eye. Wearing them, means that you don’t have to deal with those metal braces that need to be tightened from time to time.

Before you start wearing them, you should contact your dentists so he could do a few tests and see if you’re eligible for this type of treatment. Not everyone is a good fit even though they are individualized for every patient.

Once you start wearing them, it’s important that you follow your dentist’s recommendations and guidelines precisely so you could achieve the best Invisalign results. And here are our top tips and trick how to make it a great experience.

Have a schedule and keep track of your Invisalign results

With traditional braces, you need to go to your dentist every now and then for adjustments. But with Invisalign, adjustments are not required. Instead, you will get a few trays that you will need to change every two weeks.

Some patients take the trays and change them themselves, and some go to their dentist to have them changed. It’s up to you.

Sticking to the schedule will ensure the best Invisalign result. If you don’t the treatment might be ineffective or the end results will take more time.

You need to wear them at least 22 hours a day

Another difference between traditional braces and Invisalign is that you can take them off (Invisalign) whenever you want. This isn’t possible with traditional braces, which makes Invisalign even more popular.

However, you need to keep in mind, that in order achieve maximum Invisalign results, you need to wear them at least 22 hours each day.

Of course, you don’t need to wear them if you think that they will make your words distorted, if you want to consume something other than water or during meals. But it’s important to limit these circumstances as much as possible.

Don’t eat while wearing Invisalign

Invisalign aligners are made from a unique, transparent and clear plastic which makes them really hard to notice. You can continue wearing them while drinking water, but other than that, we highly recommend that you take them off. Especially during meals and drinking something that can easily stain them (coffee, tea, wine etc.)

Furthermore, eating solid (or even hard) foods could potentially damage them and they won’t be so effective.

You should keep your teeth and aligners clean

Another benefit of having removable aligners is that they won’t affect your oral hygiene. You can remove them, thoroughly brush your teeth (twice a day) and put them back on. You can’t do this with traditional braces, and there are bound to be some food bits stuck in between the wires.

Since Invisalign aligners are placed directly on your teeth, it’s important to keep them (both your teeth and aligners) clean, in order to avoid any potential dental problems, like cavities.

Keeping the aligners is also important, and not just to prevent dental problems. Without regular cleaning, the aligners could develop stains and won’t be so clear i.e. they will be visible and easy to notice.

Cleaning the aligners is not complicated, but it does require consistency, meaning that you will need to clean them every day. We recommend that you avoid using hot water (it can damage them) and use gentle strokes with your toothbrush, combined with some antibacterial substance e.g., mouth wash. Keeping them clean will ensure their integrity, efficiency and provide excellent Invisalign results.

Practice your chewing for good Invisalign results

After you put on your first aligners, you might notice that they don’t fit perfectly onto your teeth, but that’s normal. After all, your teeth aren’t perfectly aligned yet but that will change in time.

The best way to help your teeth adjust to your new aligners is through chewing practice. Using chewies can help you mold your teeth to the aligners. Bu that not all.

Aside from helping you mold your teeth, chewing exercise can also promote better blood flow to your gums, which can be really helpful if you experience pain or discomfort from wearing the aligners.

Maintain your Invisalign results

Many people think that they are done, once they finish wearing their last Invisalign tray. However, they are unaware of the fact that their teeth can sometime shift back to their original position, even after they have been straightened. This can also happen with Invisalign aligners.

Once you’re done with the treatment, you should speak with your dentist on ways and methods you can use in order to keep and maintain your Invisalign results. The dentist will definitely recommend that you wear a retainer, but you’ll get other tips too.

Invisalign aligners are some of the best teeth straightening treatments currently out there. It’s suitable for both children and adults. And even though they perform the same function as traditional braces, they do offer some other key benefits which makes them very popular. If you feel self-conscious about your teeth and smile, make sure to contact us and see if you can be a good candidate for this treatment.
