Invisalign treatment – Few things you need to know

Who wouldn’t want to have a beautiful, perfect and aligned smile? Everyone wants that. But as we get older, we become less and less fond of the idea of having metal braces to get our teeth ‘in line’. Luckily, there are other alternatives such as Invisalign. These clear aligners are really gaining on popularity because they have all the benefits of traditional braces and they are hardly visible. If you don’t have a perfectly aligned smile and you’re thinking about braces, rethink the Invisalign as an alternative.

In this article, we will ask some of the most common and important question about these braces.

Is wearing Invisalign braces painful?

Every tooth straightening technique will cause you to feel some discomfort but not pain. This is because braces as well as Invisalign are slowly pushing your teeth into another position that they’ve never been before. So, there’s bout to be some discomfort.

The first time you put your Invisalign braces, you might fee some soreness but this is normal. Your teeth and gums are getting used to something new. You won’t feel sore all the time. It will go after a few days. The important thing to note here is that these invisible braces use less force for straightening than traditional braces, so they cause less discomfort.

When you wear your Invisalign braces?

The best results are achieved when you wear them between 20 to 22 hours per day. Taking off the braces might cause your teeth to “slide” back to their old place which then extends the treatment further. We strongly recommend that you keep them on at all times, except when you’re eating or brushing/flossing your teeth.

How long will I need to wear them?

Just like with braces, the amount of time you have to wear your invisible braces depends on many factors (literally) and it all comes down to the uniqueness of each smile. But based on our experience, the most common duration of the treatment is 12 months, similar to the one with traditional braces. But if the misalignment is more severe, then you will need to wear them longer.

Will someone notice my Invisalign braces?

Invisalign braces are almost undetectable, when you compare them with traditional braces. The only way you can tell if someone is wearing invisible braces is that their teeth might look a bit more shiny than usual. But you can only notice this if you’re really close or paying attention to their smile. In general, most people don’t even notice that you’re wearing them, unless you tell them that you do.

How to clean your invisible braces?

Invisalign can be cleaned very easily. Much easier than your dental routine when having braces. You just clean with your toothbrush and water.

If you wish to clean them more thoroughly, you can also use soapy water.

Invisalign trays are changed approximately every two weeks, so you don’t need to worry about buildup.

If you wish to have a perfectly aligned smile, then wearing Invisalign can be a perfect alternative to traditional braces.
